Barco atunero es atacado por piratas en el Índico
Un barco atunero español escapó este jueves de un ataque de piratas en el Índico, a unas 350 millas de la costa de Kenia, en el que hubo un tiroteo y los asaltantes alcanzaron con una granada al pesquero, sin que hubiera heridos.
Según explicó Ricardo García, responsable de la flota atunera de la compañía vasca Albacora, empresa armadora del buque, el ataque ocurrió hacia las 07:00 horas GMT, cuando la tripulación avistó, a unas 350 millas de la costa keniana, la “típica” embarcación usada por los piratas, “un bote de entre unos 6 y 9 metros (de eslora), de plástico y de color blanco”.
En ese momento, en el atunero congelador de la empresa de Bermeo (Vizcaya, norte de España) se activó el protocolo establecido para los casos de los ataques piratas, y los marineros se refugiaron en zonas seguras de la embarcación, al tiempo que se inició la huida.
Poco después se produjo un tiroteo entre los asaltantes y los vigilantes de seguridad embarcados en el atunero, con intercambios de ráfagas de disparos. fuente telesur
